Gents....my MoonTower Christmas wishes to both you and yours ! Hope you have a good couple of days and Santa visits you both before he empties his big sack...

(that came out all wrong. Merry Christmas ! Hope to talk to you both on Christmas day)

I am posting my Christmas greeting on the Moontower. Best wishes to you two and your families over the holidays. I seriously hope Santa brings you everything on your list instead of a big fat lump of bum coal. I am going to win either way because I asked Santa for a big ol' box of bum coal!

I am in Calgary now until the 28th. I will be back in T.O. on the 29th and then I will be doing some serious chillaxing! I will try to call you both before or on Christmas. I have my cell phone here and I am checking my email regularly if you want to share reflections, thoughts or general moments of silliness.

Take care,

Thicker Than Water Review

I watched Jack Johnson's new film DVD, Thicker Than Water last night. I was in awe at his work, Spetember Sessions. The music, the surf footage, the themes. Thicker Than Water had all of that, but doesn't quite stand up to Sessions. It is a great piece of media for $12.99 (at HMV), but if I could only buy one, I would stick with September Sessions. I bought a copy. If you are at all on the fence about buying this, wait and I you can take a look at my copy.

The disc has a couple of extras, the best is a series of sketchbook pages that are presented as a slideshow to Jack's music.

IPOD

B...Not sure if Warren mentioned it, but I bought myself an early Christmas present last week. A 20GB IPOD. I love this thing. Any hesitation I had about interoperability with Windows is a distant memory. No problems at all.
I continue to exhaust my music collection and have maxed out about 9GB of music. I have turned to some friends to try and fill some more space, and now bost the entire collections of Bob Marley, Ben Harper, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and the Tragically Hip.
I had the IPOD at a party after our company Christmas party, and it really took on a life of its own. People were so intrigued by it, and were actually playing games with it...setting up a playlist on the fly so it would queue up songs that they wanted played. Incredible.

On another musical note, Warren, Ryan gave me a cd by someone called Pete Rock. The Cd is titled Petestrumental. Its amazing. Very similar sound to the Beastie Boys cd I found this summer. Very good. Highly recommended. I have it on my IPOD and will endeavour to get it to you guys.

DUdes, this might not be good news for Ben Harper. Looks like a tapestry was found with words very similar to Ben Harper's, "Burn One Down". I will try and stay on top of this story.

Warren, based on your post below, I think it is now safe for me to post this news...

I have been somewhat tentative to post this or mention it to you, as I thought it might be slightly premature, but based on what I have seen today, I can say as a proud proud father...Ethan can walk !!!
He has been taking steps here and there, and "cruising" along furniture and kind of leaning and falling towards furniture for about a month, but since the beginning of this week he has gotten really brave, realizing that he can use his arms for balance. Tonight he pretty much followed me on his own from the kitchen to the family room. It was so neat to see. You can tell he's as thrilled as I am. I took a video of it tonight, which hopefully I'll post in the next couple of days.

Thats it. Thats all.

Today

Today I woke up. Walked to work and bought and ate a coconut carrot muffin at the coffeeshop. I had a meeting to discuss progress of the edit of the opening sequence for a CBC movie of the week. I had a lunch meeting with a few employees of Pester Productions. I showed them Cuppa Coffee's demo reel and walked around while they were given a tour of our facilities. I discussed the flight path of a CG pterodactyl were are animating for the background of a Crayola commercial. I digitized scenes from the Star Wars Christmas special to edit together for a video wall we are projecting at the Cuppa Coffee Christmas party. The digitizing fucked up. I had to restart my computer, everything worked fine after that. I talked to my boss and a few co-workers about the BBC show, "The Office". I called Sarah and arranged to meet her outside the building where I work. I was late, but blamed it on the slow elevator. We walked home stopping at a coat shop and then the Hasty Market to buy some skim milk. When I got home I ate some chips, drank some Perrier and checked my email. None. I decided to write my fitness trainer an email about my missed assessment results. I did some online banking. I visited our blog. Nothing new.

No! It can't be true!!

Buy it...or ask for it for Christmas (if you can wait that long!) Although this setlist isnt perfect, a couple of songs more than make up for it, namely Glory and Consequence, Excuse Me. Mr, Burn One Down, With My Own Two Hands>War, and a version of Amen Omen that brought me to the edge of tears. Some of Bens commentary between songs is great.
Play it loud and play it often, and of course let me know what you think once you've seen it.

Just to remind you cornholes that I am throwing a Festivus party on November 29th and I hope you guys can make it! Some of the G-town crew will be there along with some Cuppa Coffee'ers and some of Sarah's T-dot mates. So try and swing it so the Bearded Clammy T-night crew is representing.

Signed a job offer with Protek Systems yesterday. They are Coral's biggest competitor in London. A pretty big player in SWO, and I am looking forward to the opportunity. It is working as a Service Coordinator for them. Dispatching, arranging and generally organizing their team of 12 technicians, with some dabbling in Project Management as well. Check out their website at www.proteksystems.com.
I start on the 17th, so for the next week and a half with Pam having gone back to work, I am playing Mr. Mom looking after Ethan.
All is good again. We all need to talk.

B - Warren and I have a business idea that we need to run by you, so if you get a chance call me at home this week.

Rented SSX 3...

Whoa. Kewl shiznit. The overall gameplay is not much different than Tricky, but the new courses are frickin' cool. As well, instead of having individual courses as in Tricky, SSX 3 is one HUGE mountain with 3 peaks. I did the race from the top of peak 3 to the bottom of the mountain, and it took over half an hour of continuous racing... Will beat me, of course.

Plus, each peak has its own half pipe and big air competition, which is wild. In some launches, I was able to pull off 5 uber-tricks in one jump! Graphics rock, soundtrack is wild, and is completely worth the purchase...

Help! Help!

I think we all knew it was coming, but Monday morning Digital Internet Group and I have decided to head our seperate directions. It came down to me being extremely uncomfortable in the environment and with many of the demands placed on me. I will continue to "work" here until the end of next week, to try and finish some things here and to try and find something to pay me as quickly as possible.
On a more encouraging note, I had an excellent second interview this morning at a HUGE company called Anixter. Have a look at www.anixter.com for more details. I am talking to them about an inside sales position here in London, and am really attracted to the nature of big business. I think I have put in my time at small companies, and could really benefit from the practices and disciplines of a big company.

Thats it thats all. In the short term, please discontinue emailing me at DIG and use my hotmail address -

As you might or might not know, I have been working straight for the last three weeks! This is my first day off in a month, but I am not complaining or looking for sympathy. I just need to sit down with Puff the Magic Dragon and have a long conversation about the cosmos, contemporary latin cinema and my ganglion growth on my foot and I will be just fine...just fine!

But for some food for thought, I have listed some of my recent attention diversions below. Do what you wish, but careful what you wish for because that balloon carrying a bucketful of gnomes might fall from the sky and be zipping right for your front porch just when you thought you heard a burglar trying to get in the front door and you go out to check. And fuck, bang, buck you get slammed in the head with a shit load of little, magical, pointy hat wearing fucks and there you are screaming at the very thing you wished for!

Looking at the calendar today, I was prompted to remember one-year ago from this weekend coming up, one of the most debauched weekends in my life as the 3 of us made a trek to Montreal for a weekend. 12+ Hours of Driving !
In support of Antonio Whalen's Stag, I do remember the weekend being awesome.
Amongst the highlights:
Hugs and kisses from Nihmey on Friday night
Dennys breakfast on Saturday morning
Finding Alisha on the cover of Maxim
A spirited drive by Slippy to Montreal on Saturday afternoon
Shopping (girl watching) on St. Catherine (said with a French accent)
Hotel Craziness - Waiting, wondering, drinking and finding some allsuite hotel was awesome for the 5 hours we needed
Great Dinner
Drunken wandering through downtown Montreal
Bar Games
Bartenders
Strip Joints
Alleys...
Lazy-est ever drive home on Sunday.

It was awesome.

Rented this PS2 Game on the weekend. It has been out for about a year, and I never rented it because it always got bad reviews. Its in exactly the same vain (and dynamics) as Tony Hawk.
SHOULD HAVE RENTED/BOUGHT it sooner. Its awesome.
Included on the soundtrack of the game are Middle Man by Jack...and Faded by one Mr. Ben Harper !!! One of the surfboards you can use has a "Bullseye" and Hurley symbol on one side, and a painting of Ben playing a guitar on the other side. Sweet.
Needless to say, I'll be picking this game up off of Ebay.

Nice call on the Soft Canyon Warren. I like what I am hearing.
Currently listening to - Dave Matthews new solo effort, along with a bunch of "relaxed" Hip Hop ? Blackalicious...Ozomotli, some old school stuff like Arrested Development and some more modern Dub....Thunderball and Beat Down Sound.

Wondering whats goin on with B...

Sounds like we are all on the Moontower bandwagon. To celebrate our selection, I (virtually) travelled to the beautiful island of Tokelau about 100 miles off the coast of Western Samoa, and registered our very own domain name. "How much?" you ask? Free, baby. Free.

So, our domain name is www.moontower.tk. Update your browsers. And if that wasn't enough, we also get e-mail forwarding! So let me know what you want your e-mail address to be (e.g. slippy@moontower.tk) and where you want it forwarded, and I will set it up!

Cheers, big ears!

Here is my final words on The Moontower versus Number 3 debate. I think we should end Number 3's short but glorious career. But we shouldn't pull the plug. Let's just let the machines do the breathing for now. The plan could be not to put a permanent link to Number 3 on The Moontower, but rather link to it in a post when material is more appropriately posted there rather than on The Moontower. Dig?

As for the midwifey's prediction...B-Hutt could be B-Daddeo by tomorrow...well, I'll be ready to raise a mug of the sweet ale and chug one for health, chug one happiness and chug one for good looks, then let me know if Kirsten had the baby!

Colly, I think I have to backdoor the Norm and Cliff golf tourney later this month. I double booked with Ted Sheppard's housewarming. I'll call you this weekend.

As for the recent past...Great weekend fellas! Had a blast. And can't wait to do it all over again. You both owe me a bottle Crown (Special Edition!) and a 2 litre of 7 UP!

Is the Moontower going to be our regular hangout or Number 3? I think we need to decide, so that I don't have to check 2 blogs all the time. Cast your votes!

Has anyone watched Joe Schmo The Reality Show? This dude thinks he is in a Big Brother type show with all actor and directors and they script the thing so he is crying like a baby one minute and telling everyone that this is the best day of his life the next...fuck, it is so cruel, but really good to watch.

Over and out.

Well, here is the latest skinny. Wife is 2cm dilated, 50% effaced as of Monday. Midwife says that we will be having a baby no later than next Wednesday, when we see her again. Apparently, she is the master of the stretch and sweep technique, and assured us that if she does her magic next Wednesday morning, we will be in labour by the afternoon. Woah.

This could be a pretty cool movie. An actual movie, not documentary on Dogtown and the Z-Boys. Looks like David Fincher will be working with Roger Avery (Pulp Fiction/Rules of Attraction). Good combination to work on the script written by Stacey Peralta.
Rumour also has it they will be using unknown actors, although apparently Jason Lee is reading the script...
Could be cool.

I am sure I will give a more complete review on the weekend but while its fresh in my head, I thought I would give my 2 cents on Dave Matthews Band.
Ben Harper he is NOT. Having said that, the concert was AMAZING.
Best way I can describe it, is that the highs of the DMB show were equally (if not slightly higher) as that of a Ben show, BUT their were way too many gaps between the highs...and the lows, created mostly by 1-2 minute breaks between songs, actually prompting me to sit down a few times.
The opening song couldnt even touch Glory and Consequence, but his energy levels picked up through the night, with a few lulls, and his closer was on par with Faded>Whole Lotta Love>Faded as they busted out a 15 minute version of All Along the Watchtower. Awesome.
Dont get me wrong though, I would strongly suggest seeing Dave if you get a chance.

For a "real" review that I would agree wholeheartedly with see the Canoe Review.
